AB - The objective of this study was to determine and compare the content of total anthocyanins (TACY), total phenolics (TPC) and total antioxidant activity (TAA) of the fruit of 'Bluecrop' highbush blueberry grown under different nutrient management practices in a soilless production system. A field study was carried out in a highbush blueberry plantation situated near Belgrade (Serbia), during the period of 2016-2017. The orchard was planted in the spring of 2016 in 50 l polypropylene pots with 5-year-old nursery plants. Each pot was filled with the mix of pine sawdust (60%), white peat (30%) and perlite (10%), and placed at a distance of 0.8 m within the row and 3.0 m between the rows (4,170 bushes ha-1 ). The following fertilizer treatments were evaluated: 1. organic fertilizers (Org); 2. mineral fertilizers (Min) and 3. a combination of organic and mineral fertilizers (Org-Min). Soluble NPK fertilizers were applied with irrigation water, whereas granulated mineral and pelleted organic fertilizers were mixed with the substrate. Fruit samples were collected in triplicate at the beginning of ripening, full maturity and the end of the harvest season. No significant effect of harvest time on each of the tested parameters was observed, whereas the content of TACY did not even differ under various fertilizer treatments. TPC in the fruit significantly increased in Org and Org-Min treatments (139.8 and 139.3 mg eq GA 100 g-1 FW, respectively) compared to Min treatment (122.7 mg eq GA 100 g-1 FW), while a considerably high TAA level was found only in berries under Org-Min treatment (0.53 mg asc g-1 FW).

AB - Three different forms of Cu powder particles obtained by either galvanostatic electrolysis or a non-electrolytic method were analyzed by a scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and particle size distribution (PSD). Electrolytic procedures were performed under different hydrogen evolution conditions, leading to the formation of either 3D branched dendrites or disperse cauliflower-like particles. The third type of particles were compact agglomerates of the Cu grains, whose structural characteristics indicated that they were formed by a non-electrolytic method. Unlike the sharp tips that characterize the usual form of Cu dendrites, the ends of both the trunk and branches were globules in the formed dendrites, indicating that a novel type of Cu dendrites was formed in this investigation. Although the macro structures of the particles were extremely varied, they had very similar micro structures because they were constructed by spherical grains. The Cu crystallites were randomly oriented in the dendrites and compact agglomerates of the Cu grains, while the disperse cauliflower-like particles showed (220) and (311) preferred orientation. This indicates that the applied current density affects not only the morphology of the particles, but also their crystal structure. The best performance, defined by the largest specific surface area and the smallest particle size, was by the galvanostatically produced powder consisting of disperse cauliflower-like particles.

AB - Production of copper powders by the potentiostatic electrolysis under different hydrogen evolution conditions was investigated. Copper powders were characterized by the scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), particle size distribution (PSD), and by the determination of the specific surface area (SSA) of the formed powders. Depending on quantity of hydrogen generated during electrolysis, the two types of particles were formed: dendrites and cauliflower-like particles. The dendrites were formed without, while cauliflower-like particles with the quantity of evolved hydrogen enough to achieve strong effect on hydrodynamic conditions in the near-electrode layer. Although macro structure of the particles was very different, they showed similar micro structure. Namely, both types of the particles consisted of small agglomerates of approximately spherical Cu grains at the micro level. The existence of the spherical morphology was just responsible for random orientation of Cu crystallites in both types of particles. The SSA of cauliflower-like particles was more than two times larger than that of the dendrites, while their size was considerably smaller than that of the dendritic particles. In this way, the useful benefit of Cu powder formation in the conditions of vigorous hydrogen evolution is shown.

AB - Silver powder particles of nanostructured characteristics were produced by the galvanostatic regime of electrolysis and compared with those obtained by chemical reduction with hydrazine.
Morphology of all types of powder particles was examined by the technique of scanning electron
microscopy (SEM), while crystallographic characteristics were examined by the X-ray diffraction
(XRD) analysis of the obtained particles. Morphology of the electrochemically produced powder
particles strongly depended on the type of used electrolyte. The irregular crystals and the needlelike dendrites were predominately formed from the nitrate (acid) electrolyte. On the other hand, the 3D pine-like dendrites very similar to Cu dendrites [1] were formed by the electrodeposition from the ammonium (alcali) electrolyte. Simultaneously, the particles of spherical shape were formed by chemical reduction with hydrazine. The difference in morphology of electrochemically produced Ag powders can be explained by different rate of the electrochemical process by which they are formed. Namely, the ammonium electrolyte belongs to the group of the complex electrolyte and formation of this complex lowers the exchange current density for Ag causing a transfer of Ag from the group of the normal metals (metals with the high values of the exchange current density) to the group of the intermediate metals (metals with the medium values of the exchange current density). Irrespective of the way of preparation of Ag powder, Ag crystallites in all types of powder particles were predominantly oriented in the (111) plane. Formation of powder particles of the different shape with the strong (111) preferred orientation was discussed and explained by the consideration of the general characteristics of the growth of a crystal in the crystallization and electrocrystallization processes. Analogy between these two types of processes was made and discussed.

AB - Lead powder obtained by potentiostatic electrodeposition from alkaline electrolyte, based on hydroxide ions, was investigated. The shape of lead crystals strongly depends on overpotentials of electrodeposition. The regular crystals are formed in the ohmic control. The shape of dendrites formed in the control of diffusion has a function of overpotentials of the electrodeposition. Increasing overpotential leads to branching of dendrites from primary type to those with developed tertiary branches. Formation of the very branchy dendrites of the strong (111) preferred orientation is explained on the basis of the affiliation of this electrolyte to the group of the complex Pb electrolytes.

AB - Lead electrodeposition processes from basic (nitrate) and complex (acetate) electrolytes were mutually compared by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction investigation of the produced powder particles. The shape of dendritic particles strongly depended on the type of electrolyte. Dendrites composed of a stalk and weakly developed primary branches (the primary type) were predominantly formed from the basic electrolyte. Ramified dendrites composed of a stalk and of both primary and secondary branches (the secondary type) were mainly formed from the complex electrolyte. In both types of powder particles, Pb crystallites were predominantly oriented in the (111) plane. The formation of powder particles of different shapes with strong (111) preferred orientation is discussed and explained by consideration of the general characteristics of the growth of crystals in electrocrystallization processes.

AB - Electrodeposition of lead from a concentrated nitrate solution was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of the obtained powder particles. Single crystals of the (111) preferred orientation were formed at a low overpotential by ohmic controlled electrodeposition. Irregular crystals, needle-like and fern-like dendrites, predominantly of the (111) preferred orientation, were formed at high overpotentials (the diffusion control of the electrodeposition). The ratio of Pb crystallites oriented in the (200), (220), (311) and (331) planes increased with increasing electrodeposition overpotential. The correlation between the morphologies and crystallographic structures of the lead deposits was discussed by the consideration of general characteristics of growth layers in electrodeposition processes.

AB - The effect of the regime of pulsating current (PC) on copper electrodeposition in the hydrogen co-deposition range was examined by the techniques of scanning electron and optical microscopes. The quantities of evolved hydrogen and morphologies of electrodeposited copper strongly depended on the applied parameters of square waves PC, such as the current density amplitude (or the amplitude of the cathodic current density), deposition pulse, and pause duration. The increase of the current density amplitude led to intensification of hydrogen evolution reaction, and the change of morphology of electrodeposited copper from dendrites and shallow holes to dish-like holes was observed. For the constant pause duration, the prolonging deposition pulses intensify hydrogen evolution reaction leading to the formation of the honeycomb-like structures. The set of modified equations considering the effect of hydrogen generated during metal electrodeposition processes by the pulsating current regime is also presented. The concept of "effective overpotential amplitude" was proposed to explain the change of copper surface morphology with the intensification of hydrogen evolution reaction.

AB - The electrochemical deposition of the Fe-Ni alloy powders from citrate-sulfate containing electrolytes of different Ni/Fe ions concentration ratios at pH 4.5 was examined by the polarization measurements. All polarization curves have a similar shape and are characterized by the presence of two inflection points. The first inflection point reflects the beginning of alloy deposition, while the second one (˜) corresponds to the moment when the cathode reaction becomes determined by the rate of hydrogen bubbles formation. The potentials of Fe-Ni alloys deposition at all investigated Ni/Fe ratios are more positive than those for pure metal powders deposition. As the Ni/Fe ratio decreases, the polarization curves are placed at slightly more positive potentials. The morphology of electrodeposited powder particles was investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A common characteristic of all Fe-Ni alloy powders is the presence of cone shaped cavities. Powder particles electrodeposited at the ratio Ni/Fe = 9/1 are mainly consisted of nodules of either very flat surface or rough surface, with well defined crystals detected only on a few particles. With the decrease of the Ni/Fe ratio, the presence of well defined crystals on the nodule surface becomes more pronounced. In the powder with the highest amount of Fe (Ni/Fe = 1/3), the whole surface of all particles is covered with crystals of different shapes.

AB - In this study, the effect of the anodic current density in the regime of reversing current (RC) on the quantity of evolved hydrogen and morphology of copper deposits was considered. The quantity of evolved hydrogen was quantified by the determination of the average current efficiency for hydrogen evolution reaction, while morphology and internal structures of electrodeposited copper were analyzed using scanning electron (SEM) and optical microscopy techniques, respectively. In all RC experiments, the cathodic current density of 440 mA/cm(2), cathodic pulse of 10 ms and anodic pulse of 5 ms were applied, while the analyzed anodic current densities were: 40, 240, 440 and 640 mA/cm(2). The number, size and shape of holes formed of detached hydrogen bubbles strongly depended on the selected parameters of square waves RC. Due to the decrease of the quantity of evolved hydrogen with the increasing anodic current density, the change of morphology of copper deposits formed around holes from cauliflower-like agglomerates of copper grains to dendrites was observed. Honeycomb-like structures were formed with the anodic current density values up to 440 mA/cm(2). The compactness of the honeycomb-like structures increased with the increase of the anodic current density. The improvement of structural characteristics of the honeycomb-like electrodes was achieved by the application of the RC regime in comparison with both the pulsating current (PC) and constant galvanostatic regimes. It was found that the regime of reversing current is superior in the production of the honeycomb-like electrodes in relation to other current regimes of electrolysis.

AB - The morphology, phase and chemical composition of Ni-Co alloy powders electrodeposited from an ammonium sulfate-boric acid containing electrolyte with different ratio of Ni/Co ions were investigated. The ratios of NVCo ions were 1/1, 1/2 and 1/3. The morphology, chemical composition and phase composition of the electrodeposited alloy powders were investigated using AES, SEM, EDS and XRD analysis. Composition of the electrolyte, i.e. the ratio of Ni/Co concentrations was found to influence both, the alloy phase composition and the morphology of Ni-Co alloy powders. At the highest ratio of Ni/Co = 1/1 concentrations typical 2D fern-like dendritic particles were obtained. With a decrease of NVCo ions ratio among 2D fern-like dendrites, 3D dendrites and different agglomerates were obtained. X-ray diffraction studies showed that the alloy powders mainly consisted of the face-centered cubic alpha-nickel phase and hexagonal close-packed alpha-cobalt phase and minor proportions of face-centered cubic alpha-cobalt phase. The occurrence of the latter phase was observed only in the alloy powder with the higher cobalt concentration in electrolyte. The electrodeposition of Ni-Co powders occurred in an anomalous manner.

abstract = "The morphology, phase and chemical composition of Ni-Co alloy powders electrodeposited from an ammonium sulfate-boric acid containing electrolyte with different ratio of Ni/Co ions were investigated. AB - Electrodeposition of copper by pulsating overpotential (PO) regime in the range of hydrogen co-deposition was examined by scanning electron microscopy. It was found that the increase of the pause-to-pulse ratio produced a strong effect on the morphology of electrodeposited copper. Honeycomb-like copper structures were formed with the pause-to-pulse ratios up to 5. Up to this value of the pause-to-pulse ratio, the diameter of the holes formed by attached hydrogen bubbles was decreasing, while their number was increasing by the application of PO regime. The compactness of the formed honeycomb-like structures was also increasing with the increasing pause duration. The increase of the pause-to-pulse ratio suppressed a coalescence of neighboring hydrogen bubbles. Copper dendrites in the interior of the holes and at their shoulders were formed with the higher pause-to-pulse ratios. The size of the formed dendrites, as well as their number, increased with the increasing pause duration. Depth of holes was decreasing with the increasing pause duration. The increased compactness of the obtained structures was explained by the use of a set of equations describing the effect of square-wave PO on electrodeposition process.

AB - The electrodeposition of the Fe-Ni powders from citrate-ammonium chloride containing electrolytes for different Ni/Fe ions concentration ratios at pH 4.0 was investigated by the polarization measurements. The morphology, chemical composition, and phase composition of the obtained powders were investigated using SEM, EDS, and XRD analysis. EDS analysis of as-deposited alloy powders confirmed anomalous co-deposition of Fe and Ni. A common characteristic for all as-deposited powder samples was the presence of cone-shaped cavities and nodules on the big agglomerates of the order of 200-400 mu m. After annealing in air at 400, 600, and 700 A degrees C for 3 h, all alloy powders oxidized forming NiO, NiFe2O4, and Fe2O3 phases in different proportions depending on the original powder composition. The NiFe2O4 phase was found to be dominant in the sample with the highest percentage of Fe after annealing at 600 A degrees C.

AB - Electrodeposition of copper by pulsating overpotential (PO) regime in the hydrogen co-deposition range was examined by the determination of the average current efficiency of hydrogen evolution and by microscopic analysis of the morphology of the formed deposits. The techniques of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and optical microscopy were used for the structural analysis of the copper deposits. Honeycomb-like electrodes were formed with an amplitude overpotential of 1000 mV, a pause of 10 ms, and deposition pulses of 3, 5, 10 and 20 ms. Holes formed by attached hydrogen bubbles were surrounded by dendrites (for deposition pulses of 3 and 5 ms) or agglomerates of copper grains (for 10 and 20 ms). In an interval of deposition pulses between 3 and 10 ms, the length of deposition pulse did not affect the size, number and depth of holes. The change of morphology of copper formed around holes was discussed by the effect of quantity of evolved hydrogen on effectiveness of stirring of solution in the near-electrode layer. The application of square-wave PO with the shorter deposition pulses enabled energy savings in the production of such copper electrodes. For example, the applied deposition pulse of 3 ms enabled energy saving of about 15% in relation to the copper electrode obtained with a deposition pulse of 10 ms (for the unchanged number, size and depth of holes).

AB - The Ni-Mo-O alloy powders were electrodeposited from ammonium sulfate containing electrolytes for different Ni/Mo ions concentration ratios. Electrodeposition was investigated by the polarization measurements. The morphology, chemical composition and phase composition of these powders were investigated using SEM, EDS, AAS and XRD analysis. The EDS and AAS analysis showed that the powder composition depends on the Ni/Mo ions concentration ratio, with the Ni/Mo metals ratio in the powders being the same as the one in the solution. The as-deposited alloy powders were nanocrystalline, while after stepwise annealing at 300, 400, 500 and 600 degrees C for 2 h in N-2 atmosphere their crystallinity became more and more pronounced, with the dimension of crystallites increasing with the increase of the annealing temperature. Already after the annealing at 300 degrees C the presence of two phases, MoO3 and NiMoO4, was identified by XRD, while SEM analysis showed that the surfaces of powder particles were partially recrystallized. With the increase of the annealing temperature the amount of the NiMoO4 was found to increase in all powders. For the powder electrodeposited from the solution with the highest Ni/Mo ratio (1/0.3) NiMoO4 phase was detected together with a small amount of Ni4Mo phase, indicating phase transition of MoO3 into NiMoO4 (and probably Ni4Mo) at the temperature of 600 degrees C.

AB - In anemia of the Belgrade rat ( b b) reticulocytes contain less than half of the normal amount of mRNA for seven adult rat globin chains. cDNA hybridization measurements of the relative sizes of polysomal and nonpolysomal pools of globin mRNAs in these cells show that 45% of all globin mRNA molecules are not used at any given time in protein synthesis. This implies a translational control which ensures a production of globin chains in a correct ratio despite a severe mRNA unbalance.
