dc.description.abstract | The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) facilitates terminology in this interdisciplinary area based on consultations with experts, the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) Scientific and Technical Advisory Group, practitioners, and partners to reach consensus on definitions. Hence, the result is the proposed updated terminology on disaster risk reduction. The new definition of the emergency management is now different from the previous proposal. It stated that emergency management represents “the organization and management of resources and responsibilities for addressing all aspects of emergencies, in particular preparedness, response and initial recovery steps” (UNISDR 2009).
