The term information overload refers to system clogging and inadequate cognitive response due to oversaturation with information, when the amount of data received exceeds the cognitive potentials of the individual aimed at processing and using that information. This paper aims to provide a brief overview of the impact of this phenomenon on the achievements of school-age children, with an emphasis on religious teaching at school, and the role of the catechist in guiding and pointing out potentially better ways of using available information. In the context of school system religious teaching, referring to the appropriate use of information technology using filtering techniques and pointing to reference and reliable sources of information may be part of the solution. The role of the catechist could be recognized in filtering available information and presenting to students only information that is verified and valid. That could prevent information overload, but also avoid the danger of exposure to unverified and inaccurate information.sr
