Abstract
Due to different origin of different ferroic properties, very few materials possess complex structural prerequisites for occurrence of multiferrocity. Bismuth ferrite is the most studied one, but rare earth ferrites, manganites and chromites, some double transition metal oxides, mixed manganese oxides and alkaline earth hexaferrites are also being studied in recent years. Some double perovskite compounds have been theoretically designed as potential single phase multiferroics. Classification of those materials has been made considering the mechanism of ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity in them. This subchapter will give brief overview of up to date known facts about structure and properties of main groups and representatives of single phase multiferroics.
Keywords:
Screw-like spin structures / Multiferroic / Manganites / Magnetostriction / Inverse DMI / Hexaferrites / Geometrical ferroelectricity / Double perovskites / Charge ordering / A-site ferroelectricity
