AB - The barium titanate (BaTiO3) thick films were prepared by screen printing technique using powders obtained
by soft chemical route, modified Pechini process. Three different barium titanate powders were prepared: i)
pure, ii) doped with lanthanum and iii) doped with antimony. Pastes for screen printing were prepared using
previously obtained powders. The thick films were deposited onto Al2O3 substrates and fired at 850°C together
with electrode material (silver/palladium) in the moving belt furnace in the air atmosphere. Measurements of
thickness and roughness of barium titanate thick films were performed. The electrical properties of thick films
such as dielectric constant, dielectric losses, Curie temperature, hysteresis loop were reported. The influence
of different factors on electrical properties values was analyzed.

AB - Barium bismuth titanate BaBi4Ti4O15 (BBiT) ceramics have been prepared using non-conventional solid-state reaction route based on mechanochemical synthesis during intensive milling. The X-ray diffraction method was used to determine phase composition. Dielectric properties were investigated in a wide range of temperatures (20-800 degrees C) and frequencies (1.21 kHz-1 MHz). The broad dielectric constant peaks at temperature T-m is frequently dependent. A modified Curie-Weiss relationship is used to study the diffuseness behavior of a ferroelectric phase transition where value of gamma indicates the degree of diffuseness of barium bismuth titanate ceramics. The dielectric relaxation rate follows the Vogel-Fulcher relation with E-a = 0.013 eV, v(0) = 2.09 x 10(8) Hz and T-f = 651 K. All these parameters indicate that BaBi4Ti4O15 is a relaxor ferroelectric. Ohmic conductivities and associated activation energies were evaluated using impedance spectroscopy.

AB - Pure and barium titanate (BT) powders doped with different lanthanum concentration were prepared by the polymeric precursor method (Pechini process) which was carried out as a three-stage process from organometallic complexes. Sintering of pressed powders was performed at 1300 degrees C for 2, 4 and 8 h. XRD analysis showed cubic BT powders with crystallite sizes between 20 and 25 nm and tetragonal crystal structure of BT ceramics. The influence of sintering time on grain growth was fairly obvious. It was found that lanthanum doping has significant effect on powders particle size and ceramics grain size. The influence of lanthanum concentration on grain size inhibition, improving the dielectric properties of BT ceramics was detected. The relation between sintering time, grain size, structure and electrical properties of the BT ceramics was analyzed.

AB - In this paper, a measurement technique, characterization and parameters extraction of SMD inductors for PCB applications are presented. These components, manufactured by Fair-Rite, are measured and characterized using a vector network analyzer E5071B and adaptation test fixture on PCB board. Since the behavior of the component depends on the environment where the component is placed, measurement results strongly depend on the choice of the PCB. Two new adaptation test fixtures in PCB technology on different board type are presented. The equivalent circuit parameters are extracted in closed form, from an accurate measurement of the board-mounted SMD inductor S-parameters. The extraction of parameters (intrinsic and extrinsic) of SMD inductor is shown.

AB - BaBi4Ti4O15 (BBiT) was prepared from stoichiometric amounts of BaTiO3 (BT) and Bi4Ti3O12 (BIT) obtained
via mechanochemical synthesis. Mechanochemical synthesis was performed in air atmosphere in a planetary
ball mill. BBiT ceramics were sintered at 1100°C, 1110°C and 1120°C for 1 h without pre-calcination step. The
formation of phase and crystal structure of BT, BIT and BBiT were verified using X-ray analysis. The morphology
of obtained powders and microstructure were examined using scanning electron microscopy. The electrical
properties of sintered samples were carried out and BBiT shows behaviour typical for relaxor ferroelectrics
and dielectric constant at room temperature is approximately 93.

AB - Barium titanate (BaTiO3) has been of practical interest for more than 60 years because of its attractive properties.
BaTiO3 can be prepared using different methods, which can have signifi cant infl uence on the structure and
properties of barium titanate ceramics.
In this paper powder of BaTiO3 powders were prepared by two methods. The fi rst was synthesis from polymeric
precursors through Pechini process which was carried out as a three-stage process from an oganometallic
complex, producing cubic BaTiO3 powders with 40–80 nm primary particles. The second was a mechanochemical
synthesis from powder mixture of BaO and TiO2, producing cubic BaTiO3 but with primary particles
200–250 nm. In both cases BaTiO3 ceramics were produced by sintering for 2h at 1300°C without a pre-calcination
step. The phases formed and the crystal structure of BaTiO3 prepared by both methods was carried
out by XRD analysis. The morphology and microstructure of obtained powders and sintered samples were
examined by SEM.

AB - Barium titanate is the first ferroelectric ceramics and a good candidate for a variety of applications due to its excellent dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties,. Barium titanate is a member of a large family of compounds with the general formula ABO(3) which is called perovskite. Barium titanate can be prepared using different methods. The synthesis method depends on the desired characteristics for the end application and the method used has a significant influence on the structure and properties of barium titanate materials. In this review paper, in Part II the properties of obtained materials and their application are presented.
