This chapter provides an overview on resistance of alkali-activated binders to the effects of various aggressive aqueous solutions. Alkali-activated binders show generally good resistance to sulphate attack. Higher resistance of alkali-activated binders to acid induced corrosion, compared to Portland cement, has been verified by numerous investigations where alkali-activated binder and Portland cement were subjected to the same treatment with an acid solution. Alkali-activated slag also shows high decalcification resistance which makes this binder a suitable option for the applications where long-term contact with water is expected. Alkali-activated binders also demonstrate good resistance to moderately alkaline solutions.
