AB  - Bismuth ferrite is a unique multiferroic material that has a ferroelectric and antiferromagnetic order at room temperature. The rhombohedrally (R3c) distorted  BiFeO3 perovskite structure is a result of relative cation displacement along [111] axis of the cubic perovskite structure and relative rotation of two oxygen octahedra in opposite directions around [111] axis [1]. The partial substitution of Bi3+ with rare-earth ions can affect the magnitude of lattice distortion and thus the value of electric polarization. The presence of undesirable secondary phases (Bi2Fe4O9 and Bi25FeO39) and structural point defects (oxygen and bismuth vacancies) in pure BiFeO3 lead to a high leakage current, which deteriorates its ferroelectric properties. Doping with rare-earth elements with large ionic radii is found to reduce the number of the structural defects and thus improve ferroelectric properties [2].
	The influence of partial substitution of Bi3+ with La3+ and/or Eu3+ on ferroelectric properties of BiFeO3 ceramics was investigated. The Bi1-(x+y)LaxEuyFeO3 (x = 0, 0.025 0.05, 0.10; y = 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.10) powders were synthesized by hydro-evaporation method, uniaxially pressed at 9 t/cm2 and sintered at 835 °C for 3 h. All the ceramic samples showed a rhombohedral structure, without presence of the secondary phases. Their morphology indicated the complete sintering under the given conditions. The grain size and grain shapes differed more depending on the dopant type and amount. The introduction of La3+ and/or Eu3+ at the site of Bi3+ led to such distortions within the rhombohedral lattice that resulted in much greater remnant electric polarization (Pr) in comparison with the undoped sample. The Bi1-(x+y)LaxEuyFeO3 ceramic samples with x+y = 0.10 showed approximately quadratic polarization vs. electric field P(E) hysteresis curves as well as significantly high values of pure ferroelectric polarization Pr, in large electric fields (100 – 140) kV/cm. The leakage currents of La3+/Eu3+-doped samples are mostly reduced, especially those doped only with Eu3+.

AB  - У овој дисертацији представљено је добијање фотокаталитички активних материјала на бази цинк-оксида, титан-диоксида и церијум-диоксида у циљу уклањања штетних текстилних боја из отпадних вода. Главне методе синтезе биле су солво- и хидротермална, а у појединим случајевима је коришћена и преципитациона. Испитана су структурна, морфолошка, термичка, текстурална, оптичка и фотокаталитичка својства добијених наноматеријала: ZnO, ZnO модификованог сребром, TiO2, различитих титаната натријума, CeO2, као и нанокомпозита CeO2/ZnO и TiO2/ZnTiO3.
Између наночестица ZnO добијених солвотермалном синтезом и микроштапића ZnO добијених хидротермалним процесом нема значајне разлике у фотокаталитичкој активности. Нанопрахови Ag/ZnO синтетисани преципитационом методом су мање ефикасни у разградњи боје RO16 у односу на солвотермално добијене нанопрахове Аg/ZnО.
Девет производа на бази TiO2 је добијено при различитим условима хидротермалног третмана полазног наноанатаса у раствору NaOH. Једнофазни титанат Na0,4H1,6Ti2O5·H2O, који је неактиван за разградњу RО16, добијен је након најинтезивнијег третмана.
Испитан је утицај различитих прекурсора, коришћених при хидротермалној синтези, на добијање CeO2 и његова својства. Иако ниједан добијени нанопрах CeO2 није показао значајну фотокаталитичку активност за разградњу RО16, онај добијен из CeCl3·7H2O показао се као одличан адсорбент.
Код ZnO прахова са различитим садржајем CeO2 одређен је оптималан удео CeО2 у циљу побољшања фотокаталитичке ефикасности ZnО. Композит који садржи 5 mol.% CеО2 има бољу фотокаталитичку ефикасност приликом разградње RО16 у односу на немодификовани ZnО.
Приликом синтезе композита на бази ТiО2 и ZnО добијен је нанокомпозит са 42 mas.% TiO2 и 58 mas.% ZnTiO3 који има већу ефикасност него ТiО2 приликом уклањања боје АG25.
AB  - The synthesis of photocatalytic materials based on ZnO, TiO2 and CeO2 for textile wastewater treatment is presented in this dissertation. The main synthetic procedures were solvo- and hydrothermal but, the precipitation method was used as well. The structural, morphological, thermal, textural, optical and photocatalytic properties of the obtained nanomaterials: ZnO, Аg modified ZnO, TiO2, various Na titanates, CeO2, CeO2/ZnO and TiO2/ZnTiO3 nanocomposites, were examined.
There was no significant difference in photocatalytic activity between the solvothermally obtained ZnO nanoparticles and hydrothermally prepared ZnO microrods. Based on degradation of RO16, all the Ag/ZnO nanopowders obtained by the precipitation method were less efficient than ones synthesized by the solvothermal method.
TiO2-based products were obtained by the hydrothermal treatment of starting nanoanatase using NaOH solution under different conditions. The single Na0.4H1.6Ti2O5·H2O, which was inactive for degradation RO16, was obtained after the most intensive treatment.
The influence of different precursors used in the hydrothermal synthesis, on the properties of obtained CeO2 nanopowders was investigated. Although none of obtained CeO2 did not show any significant photocatalytic activity to RO16, one synthesized from the CeCl3·7H2O exhibited adsorption property.
In order to improve the photocatalytic efficiency of ZnO, the optimal CeO2 content in ZnO powders was determined. The composite containing 5 mol% of CeO2 showed better photocatalytic efficiency in the degradation of RO16 compared to the unmodified ZnO.
The nanocrystalline composite containing 42 wt% of TiO2 and 58 wt% of ZnTiO3, was obtained within the try to synthesize TiO2/ZnO composites, was more efficient than the TiO2 in removal of AG25.

New Electronic Interface Circuits for Humidity Measurement Based on the Current Processing Technique

AB  - The paper describes a new electronic conditioning circuit based on the current-processing technique for accurate and reliable humidity measurement, without post-processing requirements. Pseudobrookite nanocrystalline (Fe2TiO5) thick film was used as capacitive humidity transducer in the proposed design. The interface integrated circuit was realized in TSMC 0.18 mu m CMOS technology, but commercial devices were used for practical realization. The sensing principle of the sensor was obtained by converting the information on environment humidity into a frequency variable square-wave electric current signal. The proposed solution features high linearity, insensitivity to temperature, as well as low power consumption. The sensor has a linear function with relative humidity in the range of Relative Humidity (RH) 30-90 %, error below 1.5 %, and sensitivity 8.3 x 10(14) Hz/F evaluated over the full range of changes. A fast recovery without the need of any refreshing methods was observed with a change in RH. The total power dissipation of readout circuitry was 1 mW.

The sensing principle of the sensor was obtained by converting the information on environment humidity into a frequency variable square-wave electric current signal. The proposed solution features high linearity, insensitivity to temperature, as well as low power consumption. The sensor has a linear function with relative humidity in the range of Relative Humidity (RH) 30-90 %, error below 1.5 %, and sensitivity 8.3 x 10(14) Hz/F evaluated over the full range of changes. A fast recovery without the need of any refreshing methods was observed with a change in RH. The total power dissipation of readout circuitry was 1 mW.",

The capacitor consists of two Archimedes spiral electrodes which dimensions are: inner diameter 10 mm, thickness of electrodes 0.6 mm, hight 10 mm. The measured capacitance of the fabricated capacitor is 93.8 pF in the air, and 5119.12 pF in the deionised water. It confirms the possibility of using conductive ABS composite filament for fabrication of electrodes of rolled capacitor.

AB  - Nanocomposite Zn2SnO4/SnO2 powder was obtained by solid state synthesis from homogenized starting nanopowders of ZnO and SnO2, mixed in the 1:1 molar ratio, structurally and morphologically characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Thick film paste was made by adding organic vehicles to the obtained powder. Three to five layers (layer thickness approx. 12 mu m) were screen printed on alumina substrate with small test PdAg electrodes and fired at 600 degrees C for 30 minutes. SEM analysis confirmed formation of a porous structure suitable for humidity sensing. Impedance response was studied at the working temperatures of 25 and 50 degrees C in a humidity chamber where the relative humidity (RH) was 30-90% and measured frequency 42 Hz - 1 MHz. With increase in film thickness the overall sensor impedance increased. It reduced at 100 Hz from 36 to 0.25 M Omega (60 mu m), from 23.4 to 0.25 M Omega (48 mu m) and from 6.8 to 0.02 M Omega (36 mu m) at 25 degrees C, while at 50 degrees C and also 100 Hz it reduced from 14 M Omega to 0.72 \text{M}\Omega (48 mu m) for RH 30 and 90%, respectively. The response (8 s) and recovery (10 s) was fast, showing that this nanocomposite has potential for application in humidity sensing.

AB  - Iron manganite (FeMnO3) powder with a cubic (bixbyite, Ia (3) over bar) crystal structure was obtained by a solid state reaction. Thick film paste (powder + organic vehicles) was screen printed on alumina substrate with test interdigitated PdAg electrodes. Significant porosity (60.6%) composed of macropores (larger than 100 nm) was determined by Hg porosimetry, changing only slightly from the first extrusion run indicating a stable pore system. Hg porosimetry evaluation of thick film samples enabled estimation of true textural parameters of the thick film compared to powder. Impedance response of the thick film sensor was monitored in a humidity chamber in the relative humidity (RH) range 30-90%, at room temperature (25 degrees C) and frequency range from 42 Hz to 1 MHz. At 100 Hz the impedance reduced from 10.41 M Omega for RH 30% to 0.68 M Omega for RH 90%. Analysis of complex impedance using an equivalent circuit showed the dominant influence of grain boundaries. The sensor response and recovery was fast (several seconds) and a relatively low hysteresis value of 2.8% was obtained.

AB  - The study reported the development of biodegradable, environment- and eco-friendly material based on natural polymers and lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus L.) essential oil (LEO) for application as a green pesticide. The insecticidal effect of an emulsion composed of encapsulated LEO into a biopolymer matrix against the potato tuber moth (Phthorimaea operculella, Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) (PTM) was examined and its prolonged effect compared with pure LEO. The lethal effect of the encapsulated LEO against the PTM was prolonged for up to seven days as compared to 48 h for the pure LEO. The slow release rate of the active compound (citral) from the encapsulated and the pure LEO was determined by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. After seven days the citral concentration in the encapsulated LEO was higher (60%) than in the pure LEO after 48 h (52.7%). The results of the slow release of the active compound correlated well with the insecticidal effect of the encapsulated and the pure LEO against the PTM.

During last decades many gas sensing mechanisms, based on different physical or chemical interactions with sensitive materials, have been developed, but the problem of precise analysis of gas mixtures still remains. The problem can be solved by introducing new sensing mechanism based on an adiabatically changing electric field interacting with the rotational structure of the molecules with dipole moments. We have theoretically demonstrated a single low frequency gas detector that can be used for sensing of gas mixtures with high selectivity, accuracy, and sensitivity. The enhancement of the population difference between corresponding molecular levels and reached the theoretical maximum of absorption have been shown.

AB  - U poređenju sa fotonaponskim ćelijama, fotoelektrohemijske ćelije predstavljajuefikasan vid pretvaranja sunčeve energije u električnu, jer se pored energije dobija ivodonik koji se može iskoristiti kao gorivo. Fotoelektrohemijske ćelije sastoje se odpoluprovodničke anode (p- ili n-tipa) koja apsorbuje svetlost, pri čemu se konverzijaenergije odigrava na granici faza poluprovodnik-elektrolit.U ovoj doktorskoj disertaciji primenjena su tri istraživačka pravca za dobijanjefilmova u svojstvu fotoaktivnih anoda. Prvi istraživački pravac bio je pripremananočestičnog poluprovodnika - pseudobrukita, Fe2TiO5, reakcijom u čvrstom stanjuizmeđu anatasa, TiO2 i hematita, α-Fe2O3. Analiza dobijanja najpre je praćena natabletama radi optimizacije sastava, temperature i vremena sinterovanja. Ispitan je uticajpromene temperature sinterovanja (750 – 1250 C) na fazni sastav, temperaturu faznogprelaza, morfologiju, kao i električna svojstva sinterovanih uzoraka. Izabrane su dveoksidne smeše  maseni odnos prahova 40%α-Fe2O3/60%TiO2 (4F6T) i60%α-Fe2O3/40%TiO2 (6F4T) što približno odgovara molskom odnosu početnihprahova hematita i anatasa od 1:3 i 1,5:2, sa ciljem da se dobije pseudobrukit i analizirauticaj viška anatasa. Uzorci sinterovani na temperaturi 850 C sadržali su rutil ipseudobrukit sa rombičnom strukturom čime je potvrđeno da gvožđe ubrzava faznutransformaciju anatasa u rutil pri čemu se formira i pseudobrukitna faza. Dalje povišenjetemperature uticalo je na povećanje gustine uzoraka, promene u veličini zrna ismanjenje električne otpornosti.Drugi istraživački pravac bio je priprema elektrodnih filmova sitoštampanjempasti koje su dobijene mešanjem homogenizovanih prahova sa organskom smolom(butil celuloza), rastvaračem (terpinol) i malom količinom veziva – ROSiO2B2O3staklo (RO-oksid retkih zemalja). Dobijene paste deponovane su sitoštampom nasupstrat od alumine i potom sinterovane u hibridnoj peći 60 minuta u temperaturnomopsegu 800 – 950 C. Rendgenskom difrakcionom analizom utvrđeno je da se na800 C formira monoklinični pseudobrukit i da je završena fazna transformacija anatasau rutil, kao i da je dalje povišenje temperature utiče na prelaz monokliničnog u rombičnipseudobrukit. Uzorci sinterovani na 850 C imali su malu veličinu zrna sa homogenomstrukturom, dok je dalje povišenje temperature uticalo na formiranje pseudobrukita savećim zrnima štapićastog oblika. Strujno-naponska analiza pokazala je da uzorak60%α-Fe2O3/40%TiO2 sinterovan na 850 C ima mogućnost za primenu ufotoelektrohemijskim ćelijama...
AB  - Compared to photovoltaic cells, photoelectrochemical cells represent an efficientway of converting solar into electrical energy, because besides energy, hydrogen is alsoavailable that could be used as a fuel. A photoelectrochemical cell consists of asemiconductor anode (p- or n-type) that absorbs light, whereby energy conversion takesplace at the boundary of the semiconductor-electrolyte phase.This doctoral dissertation is divided into three main research directions, relatedto the preparation of films in the form of photoactive anodes. The first one describespreparation of the nanoparticle semiconductor - pseudobrookite, Fe2TiO5, by a solidstate reaction between anatase, TiO2, and hematite, α-Fe2O3. Pseudobrookite formationwas first monitored on tablets to optimize the composition, temperature and time ofsintering. The influence of the sintering temperature (750 –1250C) on the phasecomposition, phase transition temperature, morphology and electrical properties of bulksintered powder mixtures composed of starting anatase and hematite nanopowders wasinvestigated. Two oxide mixtures were first selected - nanopowders of -Fe2O3(hematite) and TiO2 (anatase 99.7%) were mixed in the weight ratios 40:60 and 60:40,respectively which approximately corresponds to the molar ratios of starting hematiteand anatase powders of 1:3 and 1.5:2, with the aim of obtaining pseudobrookite andanalyzing the effect of excess anatase. Samples sintered at 850 °C contained rutile andpseudobrookite with an orthorhombic structure, which confirmed that iron acceleratesthe phase transformation of anatase to rutile, thereby forming a pseudobrookite phase.Higher sintering temperatures lead to increased sample density, changes in grain sizeand decreased electric resistivity.The second research direction was the preparation of films starting fromprepared oxide mixtures with an organic vehicle (butyl cellulose), solvent (terpinol) anda small amount of binding lead boron silicone oxide glass frit (ROSiO2B2O3). Pasteswere deposited onto alumina substrate using the screen printing technique and thensintered 60 minutes at 800  950 C. X-ray diffraction analysis determined formation ofmonoclinic pseudobrookite at 800 C and completion of the phase transformation ofanatase into rutile. Further increase in temperature leads to the transition of monoclinicpseudobrookite into orthorhombic pseudobrookite. Samples sintered at 850 C still hada small grain size, with a relatively homogenous distribution, while further increase intemperature lead to the formation of larger rod-shaped grains. Analysis of currentvoltage measurements of thick film samples sintered at 850 C showed that the60%α-Fe2O3/40%TiO2 sample had potential for application as a photoanode for lightdriven water splitting...

AB  - The sol-gel combustion method was applied for synthesis of spinel magnesium cobalt ferrites CoxMg1-xFe2O4, with varying cobalt and magnesium content, x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9. Magnesium nitrate, cobalt nitrate and iron nitrate were used as oxidizers and citric acid was used as a reducing agent. Structural and morphological properties of the obtained ferrite powders were investigated and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Optical properties were investigated by UV-VIS spectrophotometry. A cubic spinel structure with multigrain agglomerates formed. Visible light photocatalytic activity of the spinel ferrite powder samples was evaluated by measuring the rate of photodegradation reaction of methylene blue (MB). After 240 min Co0.1Mg0.9Fe2O4 showed the best rate of photodecomposition of MB resulting in 90% of its initial concentration in an alkaline environment.

AB  - Nanocrystalline cobalt magnesium ferrites with varying cobalt and magnesium content (CoxMg1-xFe2O4, 0<x<1) were synthesized using the sol-gel self-combustion method with citric acid as fuel, followed by calcination at 700 C for 2 hours. Structural characterization was performed using Xray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and Raman spectroscopy. It confirmed the formation of agglomerated nanocrystalline ferrites with an inverse cubic spinel structure. The optical band gap energy was determined using UV/Vis spectrophotometry. It reduced with increased Co content. Visible light photocatalytic activity was tested using natural and artificial light sources through a series of experimental degradations of the methylene blue (MB) solution.

AB  - Fe2TiO5 nanopartcles were synthesized by modified sol-gel method with aid ofFe(NO3)3 9H2O and Ti(OC3H7)4 as starting reagents, oxalic acid as chilate agent and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as surfactant. The aim of this study was to asses the photocatalytic degradaton of the antibiotic Oxytetracycline (OTC) using visible light irradiation. As prepared nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, BET, FESEM and UV-vis DRS. The optimal operating conditions of oxytetracycline photocatalytic degradation were achived by changing the pH of the solution and changing the concentration of photocatalyst.

Nanocrystalline SnO2-Zn2SnO4 composite thick films applied as humidity sensors

AB  - Starting ZnO and SnO2 nanopowders (<100 nm) were mixed in a suitable ratio and calcined at 1050 °C for 2 hours to obtain nanocrystalline SnO2-Zn2SnO4 composite powder. Structural characterization performed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) showed that a nanocrystalline composite SnO2-Zn2SnO4 powder was obtained. Thick film paste was made by adding organic vehicles to the powder. Screen printing of four and five layers of thick film paste was performed on two interdigitated test electrode configurations. They were calcined at 500 and 600 °C for 30 minutes. Impedance response was analyzed at several working temperatures (20-60 °C) in the relative humidity range 30-90% and frequency 42 Hz to 1 MHz. Increase in relative humidity lead to a decrease in impedance, especially at lower frequencies. The sensor time delay between absorption and desorption processes was low and the response and recovery times fast showing that the nanocystalline SnO2-Zn2SnO4 composite has potential for application in humidity sensing.

Structural characterization was performed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). It confirmed the formation of nanocrystalline iron-manganite with a perovskite structure. Humidity sensing properties of bulk and thick film samples of the obtained nanocrystalline iron manganite powder were analyzed. Organic vehicles were added to the powder to form a thick film paste that was screen printed on alumina substrate with test PdAg interdigitated electrodes. Impedance response of bulk and thick film samples was analyzed in a humidity chamber in the relative humidity range 30-90% in the frequency range 42 Hz to 1 MHz in view of applying iron-manganite for humidity sensing applications.

AB  - In this work, spinel magnesium cobalt ferrites (CoxMg1-xFe2O4, x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9) were synthesized by a sol-gel combustion method. Magnesium nitrate, cobalt nitrate and iron nitrate were used as oxidizers and citric acid was used as a reducing agent. The effects of cobalt ions on structural and morphological properties were investigated and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. A cubic spinel structure formed with a varied distribution of cobalt and magnesium ions on tetrahedral and octahedral sites that depended on their content. All ferrite powders consisted of multigrain agglomerates. Optical properties were investigated by UV- vis spectrophotometry. The photocatalytic activity of as prepared samples was evaluated by measuring the rate of photodegradation reaction of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. After 240 min, compared to other samples, the sample labeled as Co0.1Mg0.9Fe2O4 showed the best rate of photodecomposition of MB resulting in reduction of 90% of its initial concentration.

AB  - Though different metal oxide systems have been investigated and applied in humidity sensing as resistive or capacitive ceramic humidity sensors new materials remain the subject of much research. Iron manganite (FeMnO3) has a bixybyite type structure with the cubic space group. Iron manganite powder was obtained by solid state synthesis (milling in a planetary ball mill, calcination at 1000°C for 2 hours, milling) of starting hematite (Fe2O3) and manganese carbonate (MnCO3) powders mixed in a suitable ratio. Bulk samples were obtained by sintering green samples of pressed powder 8 mm in diameter at 1000oC for 4 hours. Thick film paste was obtained by mixing the powder with organic vehicles. Four layers were screen printed on test interdigitated electrodes on alumina substrate and fired at 900oC for 6 h. XRD analysis of bulk and thick film samples confirmed the formation of iron manganite with a perovskite structure. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of freshly cleaved bulk samples showed a network of interconnected grains and pores. A similar structure was observed for the thick film sample surface. Change of complex impedance was monitored in a humidity chamber in the relative humidity range 30-90% at the working temperature of 25°C and frequency range 42 Hz to 1 MHz. In bulk samples at 100 Hz the impedance decreased from 32 (RH 30%) to 3 MΩ (RH 90%), while in thick film samples on test interdigitated electrodes it decreased from 8.24 (RH 30%) to 0.87 MΩ ((RH 90%). The thick film sensor response and recovery was several seconds and a low hysteresis value of 2.78% was obtained showing that iron manganite can successfully be applied for humidity sensing applications.

abstract = "Though different metal oxide systems have been investigated and applied in humidity sensing as resistive or capacitive ceramic humidity sensors new materials remain the subject of much research. Iron manganite (FeMnO3) has a bixybyite type structure with the cubic space group. Iron manganite powder was obtained by solid state synthesis (milling in a planetary ball mill, calcination at 1000°C for 2 hours, milling) of starting hematite (Fe2O3) and manganese carbonate (MnCO3) powders mixed in a suitable ratio. Bulk samples were obtained by sintering green samples of pressed powder 8 mm in diameter at 1000oC for 4 hours. Thick film paste was obtained by mixing the powder with organic vehicles. Four layers were screen printed on test interdigitated electrodes on alumina substrate and fired at 900oC for 6 h. XRD analysis of bulk and thick film samples confirmed the formation of iron manganite with a perovskite structure. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of freshly cleaved bulk samples showed a network of interconnected grains and pores. A similar structure was observed for the thick film sample surface. Change of complex impedance was monitored in a humidity chamber in the relative humidity range 30-90% at the working temperature of 25°C and frequency range 42 Hz to 1 MHz. AB  - Cobalt/magnesium ferrites with various mole percentage ratio of the metals (obtained structures are CoxMg1-xFe2O4 with x being 0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9, 1.0) were synthesized by sol-gel combustion synthesis using glycine as fuel, following the rules of propellant chemistry. The powders were then sintered at 700 °C for 3 hours. Obtained powders were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Ramanspectroscopy, UV/vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). Investigation of the magnetic properties was also conducted by vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). The obtained powders were proved to be phase-pure cubic spinels which formed agglomerated micrograins. Series of photocatalytic experiments of methylene blue degradation were done.The influence of different experimental conditions was investigated including variations of: pH values, concentrations of the pollutant, masses of the photocatalyst, different light sources and therefore different light irradiation. Interesting results, including enhancement of the degradation rate with the introduction of cobalt into MgFe2O4 and decrease of the degradation rate with further increase of cobalt content and formation of hard agglomerates, open new possibilities for further investigation of the utilisation of Co/Mg ferrites as photocatalysts.

AB  - In this study, pseudobrookite (Fe2TiO5) nanoparticles were fabricated by a modified sol-gel method using Fe(NO3)39H2O and Ti(OC3H7)4 as starting reagents and ethanol as solvent. Oxalic acid was used as a chelating agent while cetyltrimethyammonium bromide (CTAB) and citric monohydrate were used as surfactants. Structral and morphological characterization using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) analysis confirmed the formation of pseudobrookite nanoparticles. As synthetized Fe2TiO5 nanoparticles were utilized as photocatalysts for decolorisation of Methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. It was observed that the adsorption of MB onto Fe2TiO5 nanoparticles is strongly dependent on the solution pH. Maximum decolorozation was observed for Fe2TiO5 nanoparticles prepared with CTAB under alcaline conditions (pH=10.5).

AB  - In this work we present detailed optimization of the titania-based electrospun
nanofibers fabrication procedure. The starting solutions were prepared from
stabilized titanium (IV) isopropoxide and different polymers, such as PCL
(polycaprolactone) and PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone). We report on the correlation
between the processing parameters and functional properties of as synthesized
fibers. Microstructural analyses performed on SEM and FE-SEM have revealed
branchy morphology of nanofibers uniform in shape and size. Anatase phase in as
prepared and calcined samples was disclosed by in-depth analysis of TEM images
and SAED spectra. The obtained fibers were used in UV/Vis photocatalytic reactor
for degradation of dye-contaminated water solutions. Promising results were
observed showing improved behavior compared to referent samples. Furthermore,
the influence of various dopants on the photocatalytic properties was investigated.

AB  - The high temperature phase of bismuth oxide (δ-Bi2O3) is a promising material
for application as an electrolyte for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), due to its high
oxygen ion conductivity. Doping with rare earth cations stabilizes δ-Bi2O3 phase
down to room temperature. According to literature [1], the ionic conductivity of
such δ-Bi2O3 is not significantly decreased even at 600 °C. This opens the
possibility to lower SOFC operating temperature from 1000 °C to intermediate
temperatures. The main drawbacks of this material are the instability in reducing
atmosphere and reactivity toward electrode materials. Bismuth ruthenate (Bi2Ru2O7)
was chosen as a potential electrode material because of its chemical stability,
compatibility with δ-Bi2O3 and metal-like electronic conductivity.
Stoichiometric mixtures of Bi2O3 with Tm2O3 or Lu2O3 were dry homogenized
and heat treated at 750 °C for 3 h in order to obtain δ-Bi2O3 with following
compositions: (Bi0.8Tm0.2)2O3 and (Bi0.75Lu0.25)2O3, respectively. Bi2Ru2O7 was
synthesized similarly, i.e. homogenized mixture of Bi2O3 and RuO2·xH2O was
heated at 900 °C for 3 h. The obtained powders were pressed into disc-shaped
pellets and sintered at 920 °C in case of δ-Bi2O3 and 880 °C in case of Bi2Ru2O7.
Chemical stability of these materials was investigated by exposing the pellets to the
hydrogen and butane atmospheres. Compatibility of electrode and electrolyte
materials was tested by heating a homogenized mixture of Bi2Ru2O7 and
(Bi0.8Tm0.2)2O3 (mass ratio 50:50) at 600 °C. Moreover, a mixture of
(Bi0.75Lu0.25)2O3 and Bi2Ru2O7 (mass ratio 30:70) was pressed into pellet, sintered at
880 °C, and exposed to hydrogen atmosphere in order to evaluate chemical stability
of the mixture under reducing conditions. Both electrolyte- and electrode-supported
configurations were considered with the aim to form a functional fuel cell.

atmosphere and reactivity toward electrode materials. Bismuth ruthenate (Bi2Ru2O7)
was chosen as a potential electrode material because of its chemical stability,
compatibility with δ-Bi2O3 and metal-like electronic conductivity.
Stoichiometric mixtures of Bi2O3 with Tm2O3 or Lu2O3 were dry homogenized
and heat treated at 750 °C for 3 h in order to obtain δ-Bi2O3 with following
compositions: (Bi0.8Tm0.2)2O3 and (Bi0.75Lu0.25)2O3, respectively. Bi2Ru2O7 was
synthesized similarly, i.e. homogenized mixture of Bi2O3 and RuO2·xH2O was
heated at 900 °C for 3 h. The obtained powders were pressed into disc-shaped
pellets and sintered at 920 °C in case of δ-Bi2O3 and 880 °C in case of Bi2Ru2O7.
Chemical stability of these materials was investigated by exposing the pellets to the
hydrogen and butane atmospheres. Compatibility of electrode and electrolyte
materials was tested by heating a homogenized mixture of Bi2Ru2O7 and
(Bi0.8Tm0.2)2O3 (mass ratio 50:50) at 600 °C. Moreover, a mixture of
(Bi0.75Lu0.25)2O3 and Bi2Ru2O7 (mass ratio 30:70) was pressed into pellet, sintered at
880 °C, and exposed to hydrogen atmosphere in order to evaluate chemical stability
of the mixture under reducing conditions. Both electrolyte- and electrode-supported
configurations were considered with the aim to form a functional fuel cell.

AB  - In this paper, we present spiral inductor fabricated by 3D additive manufacturing (AM) with added ferrite disc in the middle of the inductor (center), first approach, and with added ferrite disc beneath the inductor, second approach. The inductor was made with conductive epoxy silver based paste which was injected in a spiral channel fabricated in polylactic acid (PLA) substrate (model) using AM technology. 3D model and obtained results present a connection between passive components production and additive manufacturing. The designed spiral inductor has four full turns, with inner diameter 10 mm and outer diameter 24 mm The total dimension of the component is 27 mm x 27 mm The prototype results show good characteristics and demonstrate an innovative approach to fabricate low-cost, passive devices such as an inductor.

Structural, optical and photocatalytic properties of BiFeO3 nanoparticles

AB  - BiFeO3 (BFO) precursor powder was synthesized by ultrasound asissted sol–gel route at relatively low temperature, starting from Bi-nitrate, Fe-nitrate, and ethylene glycol. Structural, optical, and photocatalytic properties of the obtained powder were investigated. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed that thermal treatment of precursor powder at 500 °C led to formation of pure phase BiFeO3. BFO is p-type semiconductor where determined band gap was 2.20 eV, indicating its potential application as visible-light-response photocatalyst. Mott-Schottky measurements were performed to determine flat band potential and position of valence and conduction bands. Obtained BFO powder is used for photocatalytic degradation of typical organic azo dye Mordant Blue 9 in concentration of 50 mg/l. Measurements were performed for different times of irradiation and pH of the dye solution. Photodegradation products were analyzied by HPLC technique, and mechanism of photocatalytic degradation of organic dye was proposed.

AB  - Yttrium manganite, YMnO3, is a multiferroic material, which exhibits ferroelectric and antiferromagnetic behavior. These properties make it suitable for various applications. Large microcracking and porosity in YMnO3 ceramics strongly affect the material’s ferroelectric response. In this work, the effect of Ti doping on structure, microstructure and ferroelectric properties of YMnO3 ceramics was investigated. The powders YMn1-xTixO3 (x = 0; 0.10; 0.15; 0.20) were prepared by polymerization complex (PC) method from citrate precursors, and calcined at 900 °C for 4 h. The ceramic samples YMnO3 (YMO) and YMn0.9Ti0.1O3 (YMTO10) were obtained after sintering at 1400 °C, YMn0.85Ti0.15O3 (YMTO15) – at 1450 C and YMn0.8Ti0.2O3 (YMTO20) – at 1470 °C, for 2 h. Structural properties and phase composition of sintered samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and their microstructure by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Ferroelectric characterization was carried out by measuring of P(E) hysteresis loops and leakage current density (jl). XRD patterns of all ceramic samples revealed single-phased hexagonal (P63cm) structure. It was observed that Ti-doped YMnO3 ceramic samples have reduced microcracking, inter- and intragranular porosity. Leakage current densities of the
samples YMTO10 and YMTO20 were lower compared to that of sample YMO. YMTO20 showed higher electrical conductivity, but all samples indicated weak ferroelectric response.
