AB - In the present paper results of the dielectric investigation of barium titanate (BaTiO3) doped with different
concentrations of lanthanum are presented. Ceramic samples were prepared by the Pechini process. With increased
doping the grain size of ceramics decreases from 2.5 μm in pure samples down to 0.2 μm in 0.5 mol%
La - doped BaTiO3. Ceramics showed maximally enhanced dielectric permittivity around low-, room and hightemperature
phase transitions, which are the phase transitions of the pure BaTiO3. The Curie temperature, TC,
is lowered by 30 K with increase of doping concentration to 0.5 mol% La. Dielectric spectra revealed three
parts: low frequency part which is caused by conductivity process, middle frequency relaxational process part
and high frequency relaxational/polar modes contribution.

AB - Doping of BaTiO3 (BT) ceramics is very important to obtain required characteristics for different applications.

In this work, pure and Sb- doped barium titanate powders were prepared by polymeric precursors method (0.1 mol% Sb -BTS1, 0.3 mol% Sb -BTS3 and 0.5 mol% Sb -BTS5). Obtained powders were pressed and sintered at 1300oC for 8h in air atmosphere [1].

XRD results indicated only the presence of BaTiO3. In all sintered samples was detected well crystallized tetragonal phase. Figure 1. depicts SEM micrographs of sintered samples and it can be observed that antimony has significant effect on grain growth as well as on densification of obtained ceramics (higher then 90% TD) [2].
Temperature dependence of dielectric permittivity was established in the temperature range -200 to 175 oC and at frequencies of 100 KHz and 1 MHz (Figure 2.).
The positions of all structural transitions are shifted to lower temperatures. In doped samples lower temperature transitions can not be clearly detected. Peaks become more broaden as the concentration of Sb increases. Barium titanate ceramic doped with 0.3 mol% Sb has the highest dielectric constant value and with further increase in dopant concentration dielectric constant become lower. Observed Curie temperatures and dielectric constant value at 100 KHz are given in the table.

prepared by Pechini procedure. Dielectric measurements in the temperature range of 170 K

AB - Barium titanate (BaTiO:) is versatile electroceramic that exhibits high permittivity
(e') making it desirable material for capacitor and others widespread applications. On
heating, it undergoes a ferroelectric/paraelectric phase transition to the cubic polymorph at
a Curie temperature Tc of 130C, at which e' passes through a maximum e'max and
typically reaches values of -10000 in undoped ceramic samples. The phase transition is
first order, and the peak in e' is correspondingly sharp [1].
For many years dopants have been used to modify the electrical properties of
BaTiO3-based ceramics. For example, isovalent dopants are commonly used to alter Z. and
the lower temperature orlhorhombic-hetragonal and rhombohedral/orthorhombic phase
transition temperatures. In this way, the temperature of e 'max may pe modified and in some
cases lead to diffuse phase transition-type behaviour.
We prepared 0.5% Sb-dopped BaTiO3 sample. In the present study, the real (e ) and
imaginary (e ") part and of dielectric permiittivity were investigated in the frequency range
of 20 Hz to 1.0 MHz at temperature range of 1 20 K to 460 K.
How we see, the temperature dependence of the dielectric permittivity is not typical
for, barium titanate. But from Cole-Cole fit parameter relaxation time we see three phase
transitions approximately ar T=207 K, 298 K and 273 K.
In this study also will be presented barium titanate Sb-dopped with different concentration:
O.1% and 0.3%.

AB - Barium titanate has a special place in the group of ferroelectric perovskites because it can be formulated in a large number of systems and solid solutions that provide a wide range of various applications. The perovskite structure has capability to host ions of different size, so a large number of different dopants can be accommodated in the BaTiO3 lattice [1]. It was detected that various substitutions of Ba2+ and Ti4+ ions can affect on changing of microstructure and electrical properties of barium titanate ceramics.

In this work, a polymeric precursors method was used to prepare pure and barium titanate doped with different concentration (0.3 and 0.5 mol %) of lanthanum. Obtained powders were nanosized but they were also highly agglomerated. However, obtained powders were pressed in to pellets and sintered at 1300 oC for 8h in air atmosphere. Previously analyzed microstructures reveal that the relatively short time of sintering (2h) was not enough for significant grain growth [2].

The formation of phase and crystal structure of BaTiO3 was carried out by XRD analysis. Microstructural properties such as grain size distribution and morphology of sintered samples were determined using scanning electron microscope (fig.1.). Average grain size from 0.75-1.0 μm was found in samples with 0.3 mol% La while samples with 0.5 mol % La show average grain size from 0.2-0.4 μm. Therefore, it was detected the influence of lanthanum concentration on grain growth.
Electrical measurement of BT ceramics were carried out and it was observed lanthanum influence on shifting of BT Curie temperature from TC = 119 oC for pure to 115 and 89 oC for samples doped with 0.3 and 0.5 mol% of La [3]. It was also detected the effect of lanthanum concentration on increasing of dielectric constant (fig.2)
